Sermon: "Proudly Reflecting God's Glory"
Happy Pride Gainesville ! I love Pride season. It gives us an opportunity to celebrate all the progress we’ve made toward equality and justice for our families (make no mistake; we’re not “there” yet), it gives us a chance to celebrate all the good things that are happening in our community and it give us some time to play and have a good time together. I hope you’ll join us as Trinity participates in this year’s event. We’ll meet at Ayers Park on Saturday at 12:30 for the Pride Parade, and then we’ll have our booth at the festival until about 5 or 6:00 . Our wonderful choir will be singing at 4:15 from the main stage. We’d love for you to join us. If you’re interested and available, please contact me at Revjim@thecommunityactivist.com. This Sunday begins the month during which we will intentionally focus on the spiritual practice of giving to the church and our ministry together. Once our Pride activities are finished on Sunday, we stop fundraising for a month while we pray, meditate and listen to God’s direction about how we give to Trinity. So, I call on all of us, as scripture says, “to bring God’s tithe into the storehouse,” to give faithfully and even sacrificially. If you don’t currently give; try on giving for a month. If you give regularly; try adding an offering to your tithe for this month. I know this, God has a specific calling on us for the ministry of our church and that means God intends for us to fund that ministry in spiritually appropriate ways. I will not be preaching entire sermons on giving all month, and we will be referring to it here and there. I expect us to make progress toward financial health during this month. If you’d like to talk about it, please set a time to see me. I’m here for you as we embark on this portion of the journey together. Finally, thanks to all of you who do so much to keep the ministry of Trinity MCC alive and well. And to those of you who are just arriving; you are welcome to join in all we do. Blessings and much love to all of you.
