Rev. Vickie’s sermon title is "Speechless…but Always Heard"
Dear Trinity MCC,
This past weekend Carol and I attended the MCC Regional Conference in Ft. Lauderdale where there were representatives from over 10 different MCC churches. A repeat of the conference will be held in Pensacola this upcoming weekend with Laurel Lamme attending as Trinity MCC’s Lay Delegate and Rev. Jim Merritt as clergy representative. (This is also a last-chance plug for any of you who would like to attend, as the conference is open to everyone).
Each time I attend a MCC conference I come away so proud of our denomination for what we are doing throughout the region and world. It seems that the stories from our brothers and sisters are similar from church to church. MCC has made huge impacts on people’s personal and spiritual lives. As our denomination currently celebrates 40 years of ministry, we rejoice, for I am sure that the blessings that individuals have received surely must be immeasurable and innumerable.
During the conference we worshiped together, and we discussed a range of topics. We gave our input about our MCC theology, about our tension between meeting the needs of young and old, about the leadership of MCC and about the directions that our denominational leaders should take. Personally, Rev. Elder Lillie Brock and I got a chance to also talk about Trinity MCC. I told her how proud I am of you for stepping out to fund a full-time pastor and the soon-coming of Rev. Jim Merritt. Both Lillie and I have a sense that this act of faith will soon be met with God’s provisions.
Speaking of God’s provisions…this coming Sunday we are talking about prayer and how our prayers are always heard, even when we do not have the “right” words. Over and over again the Holy Spirit hears us and translates our needs before God. I look forward to sharing with you this upcoming Father’s Day Sunday.
