Trinity MCC, I’m proud of you! I was so happy with the way we conducted our Congregational Meeting this past Sunday. Three words describe it well; Planned, Productive and Peaceful. We had a specific plan, we productively completed our plan and we did it peacefully. Many thanks to our Treasurer, the Finance Team, and to our Board for the wise ways they prepared for this important meeting together. And thanks to all of you for your positive participation.
We’re planning our first membership class together, on August 16 from noon until 2:00PM in the social hall. This class is required for those who wish to become members for the first time and may be interesting for those of you who want to reinstate your Trinity membership. As a matter of fact, anyone who would like to come and receive the information is welcome. If you plan to join us, here’s what you need to do. Email Revjim@thecommunityactivist.
com right way. If you don’t have email, call the church office at 352-495-3378 and leave a voice mail. Then on August 16, bring your lunch, including what you want to drink, to church. We’ll have some goodies to add to it. Our Homecoming and Installation of a certain Provisional Pastor is on August 30, and we’ll receive members into the church during that service. While I’m on this topic, several of you have asked about how we do baptisms. I am willing to baptize those who request it in the manner most comfortable to you. We can sprinkle, we can pour and we can immerse in an appropriate location. If you’re considering baptism, please schedule an appointment with me as early as possible.
Bingo is coming up again this Tuesday night and in the words to a song I love, “I’ll be there!” We had a really good time last month and I’m looking forward to it again this week. Come hungry; food is available and having a meal there is a good way for us to continue supporting our Pride Center. They even have veggie burgers available, so I’ll be having one of those. Most important, come and have a good time with our Trinity family together.
You’ll be meeting two more members of my family this week, Yato and Lucy. Yato and Lucy are 4 and 3 years old and are in the process of learning a new routine in a new environment. They arrived in Gainesville on Monday night, so this is all very new to them. They are anxious to meet you, to become your friends and to take you into their hearts. They (and I) ask for your understanding as they settle in here. By the way, Yato and Lucy are miniature dachshunds.
Continue to pray for Dottie and Madine on the road. I heard from them a day or two ago and they’re doing well. Pray for Rocky who is in surgery right now as I write. Pray for our ministry here together in this place that is and is becoming the place where everybody is welcome. Bless you.
